dhgo.to shortens long web addresses from talks, courses and publications by Dominik Herrmann, Chair of Privacy and Security in Information Systems, University of Bamberg. The service is operated by bitcast GmbH.

Information pursuant to Art. 13 GDPR. Only the operator can create short links.

- Redirecting a short link to its destination, keeping the server secure and stable, and counting how often each short link is used. No profiling, no automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
- Data processed
Server log: IP address, date and time, requested address, status code, amount of data transferred, referrer, user agent.
Usage statistics per short link: time of the request, referrer, user agent, the IP address with its last block removed, and the country derived from it.
No cookies, no trackers, no external resources.
- Legal basis
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in running the service securely and in knowing how often a link is used.
- Recipients
- The server is located in a data centre of Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany; Hetzner acts as a processor (Art. 28 GDPR). Data is not passed on to third parties, except to the competent authorities in the event of a security incident or legal proceedings.
- Third countries
- No transfer takes place.
- Retention
- Server logs are deleted after about two weeks; in the event of a security incident they are kept until it has been resolved. The usage statistics are kept without a fixed time limit for as long as the service is in operation.
- Destinations
- After the redirect, the privacy notice of the destination site applies.
- Your rights
- Where applicable, you have the right of access (Art. 15), to rectification (Art. 16), to erasure (Art. 17), to restriction of processing (Art. 18) and to object (Art. 21 GDPR). You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA).
- Obligation to provide data
- Transmitting the log data listed above is technically necessary for the redirect.
